Dr Ebrahim Desai, a native of KwaZulu-Natal, graduated from Shandong University and completed his medical internship at King Edward VIII Hospital (Victoria Mxenge Hospital). During his time at King Edward, he was introduced to research by professors from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Medical School, which sparked his realization that clinical trials can profoundly impact the lives of previously underprivileged communities. Dr. Desai then served his community service at the South African National Defence Force, where he played a pivotal role as Director of the COVID-19 office for the KZN region during the pandemic.
In 2021, Dr Desai founded Desmed Clinics, which has rapidly expanded to five clinics, serving approximately 5,000 patients monthly. He further refined his skills as a Sub-Investigator at Synapta Research Centre, contributing to notable studies such as the Celldex inducible urticaria trial and the Spero complicated Urinary Tract Infection study. Dr. Desai is now dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate and previously underprivileged populations, driven by his passion for delivering exceptional care and making a meaningful difference.
